CNEBA League Standings

2016 League Awards - MVP & Pitcher of the Year • Fri Sep 2
Voting was held recently and awards were named for the Most Valuable Player and Pitcher of the Year. Wally Derosier from Ronnies was named the 2016 CNEBA Most Valuable Player. Wally, an Assumption College graduate, batted .505, led the league in hits (46), drove in 27 runs and stole 16 bases, in addition to playing stellar defense.

John Lamont, a Groton School graduate and now a Freshman at Williams College was a rookie with the CNEBA Champion Lunenburg Phillies and was named Pitcher of the Year. In regular season and playoff games, the tall lefty was 7-0 with a 0.45 ERA, he struck out 55 batters and only gave up 3 earned runs all season.

CNEBA Championship • Mon Aug 8
The Lunenburg Phillies won the 2016 CNEBA championship by defeating the Blackstone Valley Cats by scores of 7-3 and 6-4 on Sunday, August 7th at St. Bernard's High School field in Fitchburg. Assumption College's Kevin O'Connor pitched a complete game 3-hitter in game 1 and Matt Russell pitched 4 innings of solid relief to get the win in game 2, which was highlighted by a Sean Maki (College of St. Rose) grand slam in the 4th inning which put the Phillies up for good. This is Lunenburg's 5th league title since 1989. Blackstone Valley had an outstanding season in only their second year in the CNEBA.

CNEBA Playoffs • Fri Aug 5
Blackstone Valley took a 2 games to 1 lead Thursday night with a 2-1 victory, scoring 2 unearned runs in the top of the 7th off Phillies starter Jeff Swedberg. Joe Nicolace pitched 6 innings for BV giving up only 1 run on a home run by Phillies center fielder Devin Springfield. Ben Lodge picked up the save by pitching the 7th and striking out 2. Game 4 (and 5, if needed) are scheduled for Sunday at 2:30 at St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg.
All-Star Game with the North Shore League set for Sunday, June 26th • Thu Jun 23
The CNEBA All-Stars will face off against the NSBL All-Stars at Clinton High School on Sunday the 26th at 1:30. The All-Stars include:
