Club History & Information

The Blackstone Valley Spinners baseball club, originally founded as the Bellingham Bruins in January 2022, was approved for membership in the Central New England Baseball Association (CNEBA) that spring and played their inaugural season in the summer of 2022. The team was co-founded by Marshall Quinley (President & General Manager) and J.P. Lucier (Assistant General Manager & Head Coach). Following their debut season, the organization underwent a rebrand and relocation, officially becoming the Blackstone Valley Spinners in January of 2023.

The Spinners are a semi-professional baseball organization based in the southern portion of the Blackstone Valley region of New England. Although classified as an amateur team, the program operates with the expectations and structure of a summer collegiate baseball program, requiring a high level of preparation, commitment, and performance from its players. The team plays the majority of its home games at Renaud Field in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, with additional games and practices occasionally held at Tetreault Park in Mendon, Massachusetts and the North Smithfield High School Baseball Facilities.

The Spinners compete in the CNEBA, which is affiliated with the nationally recognized National Amateur Baseball Federation (NABF). The CNEBA regular season typically begins during the week of Memorial Day (5/28/25) and runs for approximately eight weeks, concluding in late July (7/29/25). During this time, the team will play 24 regular season games, along with 5-6 preseason and non-league matchups against teams from various leagues, including the George Donnelly Sunset League (GDSL) and Yawkey League. The CNEBA playoffs begin the weekend following the regular season finale.

Each year, the Spinners will carry a 30-man roster, finalized on June 30, primarily composed of current collegiate baseball players, recent graduates, and a select few college alumni, generally between the ages of 18-24. While the roster evolves from season to season, the team consistently values team chemistry, along with gritty, high-effort, and intelligent style of play. After reaching the CNEBA semi-finals in back-to-back seasons, the Spinners are determined to capture their first league championship this summer.
